A new album would mean writing new songs.
In my opinion, the only man up to the task is Mac, and his skills are sharper than ever. He is an absolutely brilliant writer, and his albums prove it.
Wood, as part of joining the lie of "Jagger Richards" Glimmer Twins hell, has no real writing credits other than dodgy scattershot solo albums since his brilliant "I've Got My Own Album To Do". From 1975??? He wrote a shitload more, but the Glimmer left his eye once the hammer of truth came down: nobody in the Stones earns money but Jagger/Richards. If he wrote his own "I've Got My New Album To Do", he would be yet another casualty tomorrow. Truth.
Ronnie's gone, but they could certainly pay a visit to his solo material and give him a good cred. God knows much of Ron's first two Slim Chancers were worked out before he quit- in fact, the material was part of why he quit.
As for Rod, he's written two lame songs in 25 years? HA! He was an interpreter by most accounts- the best in the trade according to many. But he also wrote songs, damned fine songs. Two lame songs in 25 years?
But that makes me think Rod would be invited to a reunion album. How carelessly stupid of me.
Back to a new album: I'd say McLagan/Wood is the best team. The best Faces songs, other than Lane's, were team combos. Wood/McLagan makes perfect sense since the fire is so evident in their playing.
