Art Wood played a good set at our local music day, the weekend before last. He was a bit breathless though and had to be helped up onstage, so I hope he's OK.

Anyone seen any decent concerts recently? I haven't read many reviews of Mac's latest tour with Billy...

I saw Mac live a couple times in Austin surrounding the party for the Ronnie Lane film. He was fantastic, to say the very least.

I saw Neko Case the other night. She has the best voice of any female I've heard in years, and that hits you square in the eyes. Her lyrics are better than average, but the real downer is that each song is in the same range, timbre, volume, etc. Neko has one of the best voices I've EVER heard, but her songs lack the dynamic range to prove she's not playing possum. Go to her site, hear her voice, and if you have an ear you immediately know I'm right- at least about how fantastic her voice is. WOWWW!

I saw the Eels the other night, and E was great, but the band was all show and no glow. I left as soon as the audience started the zombie-footstomp for yet another dreaded encore.

Decent bands should never encore. Get up, do your shit, get off, then get the fuck off the stage.

NO DAMNED ENCORES! What a wankfest.

+++++++++++++++++++++

I see Ray Davies in a couple weeks, X and Henry Rollins a bit later.
I see A Prarie Home Companion live (!) in about three days, and I'll leave the live radio show and walk up the street to my local independant theatre, which is showing Altman's cinematic version.

Yes, Salt Lake City offers art. Unlike living in LA, I'm not afraid to go out and enjoy art in Salt Lake.

Fuck you, LA. Ha!

Fuck you, Los Angeles, you vast, impotent wasteland!

Good to hear you're up & attem still. I listened to Neko Case, I agree she has a great voice but I wasn't immediately struck by the few tracks I heard, not enough to leave them playing anyway. I'll listen again.

Lucky you. Ray Davies 8) I still haven't seen him live. The last few weeks I've seen Richard Ashcroft, GnR and the Eagles (and Art Wood obviously) , been busy. I was so sorry to have missed Mac last month and really would love to see Kenney in July but can't make it. Any news who the famous guest is?
