`BIG BUCKS' PLANS BIG TRIBUTE TO LANE: JOE ELY and the Church's MARTY WILSON-PIPER are the first artists to verbally agree to appear on a Ronnie Lane tribute album, which is being compiled by Lane's friend and former butler James ``BIG BUCKS'' Burnett for Dallas' Last Beat label.

``We're going to concentrate on Ronnie's solo work and not so much on his better known stuff with the Faces or the `Rough Mix' album (with Pete Townshend),'' Burnett said. ``Plus I don't want this to be a bunch of modern rock bands like Stone Temple Pilots trying to get some credibility. I want this album to be Ronnie's good friends celebrating his life in music and turning other people on to Ronnie's songs.''

Burnett said he and Ely talked about Joe doing a never-released Lane composition called ``Spiritual Babe,'' but there are no known recordings of the song. ``I'm hoping that maybe someone like (KGSR program director) JODY DENBERG has a live recording of it,'' Burnett said. ``That was a real good song: If Joe doesn't do it, someone ought to, at least to keep it alive.''
